(Updates with latest notice)
June 20 (Reuters) - The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) on Tuesday canceled its notice requesting residents to voluntarily conserve power as demand was expected to peak with people cranking up air conditioners to escape the first heat wave of the 2023 summer.
The Texas power grid operator also canceled its alert for a projected reserve power capacity shortage for June 20 "with no market solution."
Current demand as of 21:00 CT (0200 GMT on Wednesday) was 72,661 MW, with the regulator forecasting power use could reach 81,191 MW on Wednesday. That would top the grid's record peak of 80,148 MW on July 20, 2022. (Reporting by Brijesh Patel and Seher Dareen in Bengaluru; Editing by Mark Porter)
