Melissa A. Federico of Hartford's Murtha Cullina has been elected to the board of directors of Lawyers for Children America.
The installation took place at the Lawyers for Children America board meeting on July 12.
Lawyers for Children America is a child advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the rights of children who are victims of abuse, abandonment and neglect by providing quality pro bono legal representation.
Federico is a trial attorney practicing in the areas of complex commercial litigation and insurance coverage and recovery. In 2014, she received the "New Leader in the Law" award from the Connecticut Law Tribune. She has been recognized as a SuperLawyers "Connecticut Rising Star" in insurance coverage since 2013. In addition to her service to Lawyers for Children America, Federico serves on the board of directors for the Hartford County Bar Association and the executive committee for the Connecticut Bar Association's Insurance Law Section. She received her bachelor's degree from Stonehill College and her law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law.
