Apr. 7—Elections to fill two at-large director positions for North Metro Fire District Board are quickly approaching.
Three candidates are running for the open positions, including two returning board members Peter Billera and Richard Miller. Dave Feineman is also running.
The election is scheduled for May 3. Residents and property owners who wish to vote in-person can do so at North Metro Fire headquarters, North Metro Fire Station 62 or North Metro Fire Station 64 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on May 3.
Those who wish to vote by absentee ballot must apply for a ballot no later than April 26 and the completed ballot should be mailed to North Metro Fire headquarters. Ballots must be received no later than 7 p.m. on election day in order to be counted. Applications for an absentee ballot can be downloaded online at NMFD's website.
Both open positions will serve a three-year term, where they will be a part of the board which consists of five members total. The role of the board of directors is to establish policies and set the annual budget for the district. Chief David Ramos is the chief executive of the district and reports to the board.
"North Metro Fire's board members work collaboratively with staff to set the strategic direction and vision for the fire district," NMFD's website states. "Additionally, they are responsible for approving the district's budget, large contracts, guidelines and bylaws for the district, and fire codes and fees for services provided by North Metro Fire."
The board meets the third Tuesday of every month from 4 to 7 p.m., where members are required to attend. Directors are compensated by the district with a stipend for meetings they attend.
