As I'm writing this, I'm listening to the Freakonomics episode "The Egghead's Guide to the Superbowl" and in the opening 5 minutes, everyone notes that the ads are a big part of the game - not the time to refresh your beverage or go to the bathroom at all. Like I say in this week's video, it's become the "Oscars of Ads" - that one day a year that people actually pay attention to the ads and even anticipate them eagerly.
So, if you are an advertiser, this sounds like an ideal placement, right? But $5 Million? In this week's video, I explore the question: are Superbowl ads worth their pricetag? Surprisingly, it's more nuanced - and social - than you think.
