Labor Day sales: The best products to buy this weekend

In This Article:

Retailers are gearing up to offer consumers a wave of Labor Day Weekend sales and discounts to take advantage of. CNET editor-at-large Bridget Carey joins Wealth! to break down some of the best sales you can find this holiday weekend.

Carey notes that as the summer comes to a close, many seasonal items — from clothing to yard tools — will likely be offered at significant discounts. In addition, she explains that consumers will also see sales on tech products, like laptops and TVs, and even mattresses.

She encourages consumers to take advantage of these sales but not get too stressed as there will be more opportunities ahead. Carey specifically points to another Prime Day from Amazon (AMZN) in October as well as widespread Black Friday sales starting in November.

And during this sales blitz, here with some more insight, we've got Bridget Carey. She is the editor at large for CNET. Bridget, great to have you here on the show with us. I don't know about you, but my inbox is blowing up with it seems everyone has a sale suddenly. It's like giving Black Friday, right? But it's not that big. I will say that. You're seeing the end of summer, so is the end of season sales on summer outfits, summer grills, yard tools, gardening. But also, when it comes to tech, uh, you're seeing sales on laptops, TVs. And as we're kind of seeing historically, it's always a good time for mattresses.

Oh my goodness. All right, cool. I might be in the market for at least one of the things on this list here right now. It's so interesting, especially as we're tracking some of those deals that have come forward and are hitting our inboxes as well. Is there a good time to buy for some of these Labor Day deals that we're seeing coming forward?

You know, um, I think if you see a sale, just kind of go for it, but also don't have too much stress in that you have to shop right now. This is a good time if you haven't bought that back to school gear yet and you were procrastinating on certain items. Okay, go pick up the the the tech that you need for for school now, right? Um, but, you know, when we start in October, you're going to hear about another another prime day from Amazon, and it's going to rev up again. It's going to feel like, look, like Black Friday's creeping in. So right now, if you need something for the home, you know, small home goods, um, uh, you know, appliances, you know, go for it. You know, look, look around. What do you need now and make the most of the sales that are happening now for the things you need.

Are there any unique deals that you're seeing or coming across that we typically wouldn't see this time of year or any abnormal deals out there that might might catch, uh, some consumers out there?

You know, it's the smaller stuff you don't typically see, like car chargers, candles. Um, they're trying to, they're trying to get on the on the little things we we talk about sales. We're always thinking about laptops, but, you know, board games also. You know, things for the family. You know, everyone's going back to school, doesn't mean you have to stop playing board games. So, you know, kind of get creative here and and use the sales wisely. Or stock up on Christmas stuff, you know.
