What: This credit union opened a new location in South Lubbock.
When: Feb. 20.

Champs Sports Bar
What: Champs officially returned to Lubbock in early February, replacing the former East Moon.
When: Feb. 3.
Where: 5028 50th St.
F&F Japanese Grill
What: This Japanese restaurant, known as Fast & Furious Grill, started as a food truck in Irving in 2013. The business now has restaurants in several cities including Addison, Greenville and Lewisville.
When: Feb. 29.
Where: 6616 Milwaukee Ave.
Sephora
What: This makeup store opened within the Kingsgate South shopping center.
When: Mid-February.
Where: 8201 Quaker Ave., Suite 108.
Sunnyside Learning Academy
What: Sunnyside Learning Academy opened a second location.
When: Feb. 12.

What: A reason for the closure was not announced.

Senor Chubby's Mexican Bar & Grill
What: The restaurant gave less than 48 hours notice before closing their doors. The owners posted on the restaurant's page that they are pursuing new opportunities, and that the new owners will rebrand with a different concept.

What: A shop known for clothing and comfort items closed.
When: Late February.

Here's which businesses, restaurants confirmed or denied Lubbock locations in February 2024
Benito's Italian
Confirmed: Benito's Italian confirmed their plan to open a second location, which will be at the former Senor Chubby's Mexican Bar & Grill, 3410 98th St., Suite 1112.
Cyrus Kabob Persian Cuisine
Announced: This Persian/Iranian restaurant announced an upcoming location at 421 Frankford Ave., which was formerly a Dimba's location. People can follow the Facebook page for updates.
Dave's Hot Chicken
Announced: In October 2023, the community received confirmation that Dave's Hot Chicken, a restaurant specializing in hot chicken tenders and sliders, would open in several West Texas cities. On Monday, Feb. 5, the franchisees confirmed that renovations would begin at the former Taco Bueno at 6309 82nd St. They hope to open in late May or early June.
