With EPS Growth And More, Kanzhun (NASDAQ:BZ) Makes An Interesting Case

In This Article:

The excitement of investing in a company that can reverse its fortunes is a big draw for some speculators, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can manage to find investors. Sometimes these stories can cloud the minds of investors, leading them to invest with their emotions rather than on the merit of good company fundamentals. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else investors will move on and the company will wither away.

In contrast to all that, many investors prefer to focus on companies like Kanzhun (NASDAQ:BZ), which has not only revenues, but also profits. While profit isn't the sole metric that should be considered when investing, it's worth recognising businesses that can consistently produce it.

Kanzhun's Improving Profits

Kanzhun has undergone a massive growth in earnings per share over the last three years. So much so that this three year growth rate wouldn't be a fair assessment of the company's future. As a result, we'll zoom in on growth over the last year, instead. Impressively, Kanzhun's EPS catapulted from CN¥1.34 to CN¥3.37, over the last year. It's a rarity to see 151% year-on-year growth like that. Shareholders will be hopeful that this is a sign of the company reaching an inflection point.

It's often helpful to take a look at earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. The good news is that Kanzhun is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 13.9 percentage points to 14%, over the last year. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in our book.

Are Kanzhun Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Owing to the size of Kanzhun, we wouldn't expect insiders to hold a significant proportion of the company. But we do take comfort from the fact that they are investors in the company. We note that their impressive stake in the company is worth CN¥1.0b. Coming in at 16% of the business, that holding gives insiders a lot of influence, and plenty of reason to generate value for shareholders. Looking very optimistic for investors.
