Hank Nayden is stepping into the role of general counsel at the company known for its animated gecko pitchman who boasts that 15 minutes can save you 15 percent or more on car insurance.
Nayden will also add the title of vice president and continue as legislative counsel at Geico, a role he began in 2000 with the Chevy Chase, Maryland-based auto insurance giant.
He replaces Dana Proulx, who recently retired, according to his LinkedIn profile. Proulx began with Geico in 1979 in the products and compliance division and worked his way up to become GC in 2006.
Nayden has been with the company since 1992, according to a company press release, issued July 21. He started as an attorney in the legislative counsel's office and was selected for the company's executive assistant program in 1997 where he worked on various rotational positions and assignments.
During Nayden's tenure, he helped launch Geico's National Print Mail Center in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was also the regional claims liability director in Fredericksburg before serving as vice president of Geico's legislative counsel for the past 17 years.
A company spokesperson did not respond to a request for further comment on Nayden's promotion.
