Jabil, a manufacturing solutions provider to automakers, has signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with AVL Software and Functions, the e-drive and software division of AVL, to deliver advanced vehicle technologies to the automotive sector.

The collaboration aims to support customers throughout the product development lifecycle of next-generation vehicle technologies.

The partnership brings together AVL’s capabilities in product design, software development, simulation, and testing with Jabil’s expertise in value engineering, certified manufacturing, and global supply chain operations.

Jabil senior engineering vice-president April Butterfield sad: “As vehicle technology becomes increasingly complex, automotive and transportation brands need seamless, strategic design and manufacturing support across the product lifecycle.

“Working together, Jabil and AVL will bring these enhanced capabilities to customers that drive faster time-to-market, improve cost, and reduce supply chain complexity.”

With a focus on innovation, the collaboration will support the development of sophisticated vehicle electronics.

This includes powertrain and charging systems, sensor-based driver assistance systems, and other integral compute and control products.

The non-exclusive agreement aims to simplify the complexity and reduce costs for customers, while enhancing the offerings for OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in the automotive industry.

AVL Software and Functions managing director Anton Angermaier said: “We’re excited to work alongside Jabil to combine our decades of experience in innovation, automotive processes, and product engineering with outstanding manufacturing know-how.

“Our complementary cultures and skillsets will drive exceptional value and pioneering solutions for the industry.”

The agreement is non-exclusive and extends the development network of both companies.

It is intended to deliver added value to original equipment manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers, and other customers.
