Newsmakers: Week of July 31, 2017

The Dee J. Kelly Foundation, named for the late Dee Kelly Senior, has presented a $1.25 million gift to Kelly's alma mater, George Washington University School of Law, to support its operations. Kelly, who died Oct. 2, 2016, graduated from the law school in 1954 and was a founding partner of the Kelly Hart & Hallman firm in Fort Worth. The law school recently named its Law Learning Center in Kelly's honor.

New Positions

Read H. Reily has joined the North Dallas office of WB Mills as an associate. Reily is a litigator who represents a diverse set of clients with trademark, copyright and business litigation matters.

Jeff Crook, a registered patent attorney, has joined Winstead's intellectual property practice group as of counsel in the firm's Dallas office. Crook's practice focuses on U.S. and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation support and client counseling. Jennifer Kukla has joined Winstead's real estate finance, default resolution and servicing practice group as of counsel in Dallas. Her practice focuses on commercial real estate and finance transactions.

Appointment

K. Lance Anderson, a member of Dickinson Wright in Austin, has been selected to serve on the board of directors for the Texas Medical Device Alliance. Anderson's practice focuses on preparing and negotiating technology and intellectual property-focused transactions, as well as technology aspects of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other complex commercial transactions.

Elected

Sue Murphy, Thompson & Knight counsel in Houston, has been elected to the advisory board for Inprint, a literary arts nonprofit in Houston. She will serve a two-year term.

Award

John V. Jansonius, a Dallas partner in Jackson Walker, received the Outstanding Director Award from the State Bar of Texas for his service on the bar's board of directors from 2014-2017.
