Subsea7 has secured a contract from Petrobras for the development of the Búzios 11 field, located 180km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The company designated the contract as “super-major", its classification for projects exceeding $1.25bn in value.

Búzios 11 field is situated at a water depth of 2,000m in the pre-salt Santos basin.

Subsea7’s scope of work involves engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of a 112km of rigid risers and flowlines system.

The pipelines will be manufactured at Subsea7’s spool base in Brazil, with offshore activities scheduled for 2027 and 2028.

Subsea7 senior vice-president for Brazil and Global Projects Centre West Yann Cottart said: "This award again underscores Subsea7’s proven expertise in delivering complex, world-scale size projects, reinforcing our strong execution capabilities and commitment to operational excellence and safety.

"With a solid backlog and a diverse portfolio, we continue to drive value for our shareholders while further contributing to Brazil’s development. We thank Petrobras for their trust and look forward to once again playing a significant role in the success of the Búzios field.”

The development follows Subsea7's announcement in May 2024, when Petrobras awarded a “super-major” contract for the Búzios 9 field.

Búzios 9 field has a similar location to Búzios 11, approximately 180km offshore Rio de Janeiro at a depth of 2km.

The contract for Búzios 9 included the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of 102km of rigid risers and flowlines for the steel lazy wave production system.

Offshore operations for this project are planned for 2026 and 2027.

In April, Subsea7 announced a contract win from Shell Offshore for engineering services related to the Sparta deep-water development in the US Gulf of Mexico.

This project entails the transportation and installation of a floating production system in the Garden Banks block 959, off the south-eastern coast of Louisiana, at depths reaching 1,635m.

"Subsea7 secures super-major contract for Búzios11 field in Brazil" was originally created and published by Offshore Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
