Seba Bank AG, a prominent Swiss bank offering cryptocurrency services, has undergone a name change as part of its plans to expand its trading offerings worldwide. The bank has rebranded to Amina Bank AG, with the decision stemming from similarities between its previous name and SEB Bank in Sweden. Amina CEO Franz Bergmueller explained that both SEB Bank and SEBA Bank agreed to the name change in 2023.
The bank's new name, Amina, draws its inspiration from the concept of "transamination," which signifies the transfer of one compound to another. This choice reflects the bank's core objective of integrating traditional, digital and cryptocurrency banking practices.
Bergmueller said: “Our ambition is to accelerate the growth of our strategic hubs in Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Abu Dhabi, and to continue our global expansion, building on all the successes we have laid down over the past year.”
The rebranding of Amina Bank aligns with its ongoing efforts to expand its range of products and services on a global scale. Recently, the bank secured a license from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, granting it the ability to provide cryptocurrency trading services within the country. Furthermore, Amina Bank obtained permission for financial services from Abu Dhabi Global Market in 2022 and established a physical presence in Abu Dhabi.
